Health nurse visit

The public health nurse came to see us today. She talked to us about staying healthy.

We learned to brush our teeth twice a day. In the night time before we go to bed and in the morning after we eat our breakfast.

We learned how to blow our nose. It is really important we blow out our nose and not our mouth! That can be tricky!
It is also important to blow one nostril at a time into a tissue.

When we wash our hands we have to remember to rub between our fingers and our thumbs and then rinse off all the soap. It is really important to dry our hands well!

We also learned to cough into our sleeves, not into our hands!

Thinking Hats!

Last week we were looking at the Red Thinking Hat. When we have the red hat on, we think about how we are feeling about the problem or issue.

We brainstormed all the different feelings we have and then did some writing about them. This is what we came up with!

excited, nervous, sad, lonely, happy, angry, jealous, worried....

I am excited when my friend comes to stay at my house. - Bethany

I feel sad when I fall over. - Blain

I feel excited when I get to play on the X-Box. - Cameron

I feel excited when I get to go on sleep overs.
I feel angry when I am playing and my Mum tell me what to do. - Sam

I feel angry when I don't get to go to school. - Katelyn

I feel excited when I go on holiday.
I feel angry when I get scratched by the cat. - Natasha

I feel happy when I get KFC. - Courage

I feel jealous when people take toys off me. - Bella

I feel excited when I go to Moana Pool.
I feel sad when people make fun of me. - Krystal

I feel angry when I have to pick up dog poos. - Lynley

I feel angry when I have to go to bed. - Jacob

I feel sad when my Mum and Arleyah and Grandma are going far away. - Reyana

I feel excited when I am by myself at my Nana's house. - Nathaniel

We wonder what makes you happy, sad, angry or excited? Do you have any other feelings for us to think about?

Have a great week everyone!

Dogs, dogs, dogs!

Today we had a visit from from Mrs MacDonald. She is from the City Council and she works for Dog Control.

We learned about how to be safe around dogs.

She bought her dog called Switch. She was cool and she had two different coloured eyes! She was a kind and careful dog. She let us pat her.

This is what you should do if you want to pat a dog.

1 Ask the owner first.

2 Let the dog sniff your hand. Your hand should be in a fist not flat. Flat hands are easy to bite!

3 Pat the dog under his chin and on his chest.

These are some of the things we learned.

If a dog is running at you, you should stay still and fold your arms.

When a dog sniffs you it is saying hello!

Some dogs have to wear a muzzle.

We really liked hearing about how to be safe and we really liked Mrs MacDonald and her dog Switch!
