Gorgeous Groups

We thought we should have a think about what a groups who works well together looks like, feels like and sounds like.

So we did a y chart!

This is what we came up with...

The next day we needed to do some group work when we went on our "Great Worm Farm Information Hunt".

Afterwards we talked about how we thought our groups went and why. Here are some of our thoughts and photos to show what we were doing!

Jonathan thought his group worked well because they were sharing their ideas.

Jeannie though her group was imbetween because they were having a fight over a pen but then they forgot about it and got on with thier work!

Ryan thought his group worked well because they didn't argue about who should be doing what job at the start.

Abbey thought her group worked well because everyone helped spell the words.

Nathaniel thought his group worked well becasue they all listened to the reader.

Courtney thought her group worked well because they all talked one at a time.

Andrew didn't think his group worked so well becasue they didn't listen to the reader.

Worm Farm Wonderings...

Well, we have decided that a worm farm will be an excellent way to get rid of our food scraps but there is one problem....we don't know anything about them!

So we have come up with these questions to help us on our search.

If anyone knows the answers, or has any handy hints, please drop us a line!

What things do we need to make a worm farm?
What food do worms eat?
Do worms eat anything else?
Do we need any soil or compost?
Do we need to put a lid on it?
Do worms need air?
Where do we get the worms from?
How big should the worm farm be?
Where is a good place to put our worm farm?
Hmmm? Let us know if you have any ideas!

Our trip to the tip!

We visited the Green Island tip last week. There were so many different ways to get rid of your rubbish. You could get your garden waste munched up into mulch. You can recycle your paper and glass rubbish there, you can even take your old computers and bathtubs there!

Ryan learned you can only recycle plastic with 1 or 2 on the bottom!

Jacob found out you can put old clothes in the clothing bin.

Lekiesha liked it how green waste goes into a special place to be turned into compost.

Storm found out gas bottles could explode if they are not empty!

Abbey liked the shop that sells books and toys.

Blain found out the leftover rubbish goes in a huge big pit – the landfill.
