Our trip to the tip!

We visited the Green Island tip last week. There were so many different ways to get rid of your rubbish. You could get your garden waste munched up into mulch. You can recycle your paper and glass rubbish there, you can even take your old computers and bathtubs there!

Ryan learned you can only recycle plastic with 1 or 2 on the bottom!

Jacob found out you can put old clothes in the clothing bin.

Lekiesha liked it how green waste goes into a special place to be turned into compost.

Storm found out gas bottles could explode if they are not empty!

Abbey liked the shop that sells books and toys.

Blain found out the leftover rubbish goes in a huge big pit – the landfill.

I think it is fantastic that you have learnt about where rubbish goes and how we can all recycle stuff.
I love the art work you have all made. Isn't Miss Little a wonderful teacher?

Hi Room 3. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip to the tip and learnt heaps. Ryan now tells me which plastic containers we can recycle at home by checking the number on the bottom of the container to see if it is a 1 or a 2. Well done!!

Wow!!!
You guys are awesome learning about how you can help save our environment.
Get Miss Little to borrow or buy the book...
'George Saves The World By Lunchtime' written by Jo Readman.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the story. It's all about saving the environment.
In case Miss Little forgets the title, you could write it on the white-board. Sometimes she needs reminding!!

I'm drinking lots of water too – 8 glasses a day!
Have a great week with Miss Little.
